With a life expectancy ranging from 10 to 18 years, the Shih Tzu falls into the upper average compared to other dog breeds. The final weight varies depending on gender, ranging between 8.8 - 17.6 lbs. Male Shih Tzus are usually around 1.1 lbs heavier than females.
